Time flies! The summer is almost over (sorry for the reminder), and Ground Rules Academy is approaching our two year anniversary. This month we'll celebrate with a promotion ceremony and an anniversary sale with deep discounts on pre-paid memberships.

All ages are invited to the promotion ceremony on Saturday 8/29, so mark your calendars! Our focus is always on skill improvement, cultivating resilience, and physical development, but it's awesome to recognize your hard earned progress with stripes and belts!

Pro tip: Create a secondary savings account. Put 1/12th of your large annual (or 1/6th of semiannual) expenses into it every month. Withdraw from it when you need to pay a big expense (Anniversary Sale, car/home/renters insurance, etc.).
Looking ahead to competitions
A few adult competitors, myself included, have our sights set on competing at the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) San Jose Winter International Open in mid-January 2027. IBJJF is a global BJJ promotion that attracts world-class talent. Let me know if you are interested in joining us so we can get you formally registered with the IBJJF.
To prepare, we are keeping an eye out for warm-up competitions in November/December this year. The strongest candidate posted so far is the BJJ Tour U.S. Open in San Jose on November 14th and 15th. Consider registering and we'll keep an eye out for more warm-up opportunities in late 2026 as they emerge.
