Ground Rules Academy does not have a San Ramon address. We train at 7034 Commerce Circle, Suite F, Pleasanton, CA 94588 — right by the I-580 / I-680 interchange. From San Ramon that’s a straight 680 shot, not a crosstown errand.
If you searched “jiu-jitsu San Ramon” and landed here, that’s the geography. People along the 680 corridor already make the trip because the room is worth it.
The drive is the reason it works
I-680 is the north–south spine San Ramon already uses. We’re not buried on the far side of Pleasanton down a chain of surface streets. We’re the interchange academy.
Come once. If the room isn’t worth the freeway, you’ll know the same night. If it is, the drive home is an easy cruise.
What you’re driving to
My family and I founded Ground Rules Academy in 2024. I’m a BJJ black belt with twenty years of teaching, and I still teach chemistry at Las Positas College. We don’t just show techniques — we teach why they work. Leverage, momentum, base, friction. Can’t remember the exact steps of a takedown? Control the center of mass. Kids train after school: BJJ Sprouts (ages 5–7) and BJJ Buds (ages 8–13). Teens and adults start in Fundamentals — all levels, and that’s night one for beginners — with Women-Only Fundamentals on Wednesday evening if that room fits better. Advanced when you’re ready to think a few steps ahead. Open Mat runs Friday evening and Saturday (drop-ins welcome). Saturdays also include judo with Coach Greg Prior for throws and standup that feed your BJJ. Gi and no-gi days, plus a late-morning Fundamentals option — the live grid is on the schedule. Why is the 680 drive worth it?
You’re not fighting surface streets to the far side of Pleasanton. You’re on the freeway spine you already use, heading to a physics-first room that explains why techniques work.
