Jiu-Jitsu for Livermore — train in Pleasanton, visit JG Livermore

I should be honest up front: Ground Rules Academy is not a Livermore storefront. We train at 7034 Commerce Circle, Suite F, Pleasanton, CA 94588, a short drive west on I-580 from Livermore into the Tri-Valley interchange. If you want our curriculum — physics-first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the way I teach it — you come to Pleasanton.

That is the real version of “jiu-jitsu for Livermore.” We already have Livermore students who make that drive because the teaching is the reason to come, not a second GRA address.

Sister school, not a rival

In 2026 we joined JG Academy / Aspire to Inspire. Livermore already has a JG home: SubCulture / JG Livermore at 1855 First Street, Unit B. That gym is a sister school in the same network. It is not a competitor I talk around, and it is not a Ground Rules branch.

If you live in Livermore and you only want the closest JG door, start with JG Livermore. If you want Ground Rules specifically — the book-driven mechanics, the LPC professor who treats class like a lab you can feel — drive to Suite F. Why Livermore people make the 580 trip

Pleasanton and Livermore share a freeway, not a downtown. Commerce Circle sits on the west Pleasanton side of that corridor, near I-580 / I-680, so the trip is a highway pull, not a crawl across the valley.

I founded GRA in 2024 after twenty years of teaching. I’m a BJJ black belt, and I still teach chemistry at Las Positas College — a campus a lot of Livermore families already know. We don’t just teach techniques. We teach why they work. Leverage, base, friction, where the weight actually is. Can’t remember the exact steps? Control the center of mass. Kids train in BJJ Sprouts (5–7) and BJJ Buds (8–13). Teens and adults start in Fundamentals — that’s the first class, all levels — then Advanced, then Open Mat (drop-ins welcome). Gi days, no-gi days, midday Fundamentals, and weekend Open Mat are on the schedule. Sunday we’re closed.
