December 2025 Newsletter
Dear GRA Community,
There is so much to be thankful for this month! It is truly a joy being a part of so much growth. Students have been working hard on improving their skills, some folks challenged themselves in competition, and the academy welcomed several new members ready to embark on a jiu jitsu journey.
For those interested in competition, we will be postponing the launch of the Saturday morning competition class until the new year. There will be plenty of time in January, however, to prepare for upcoming local competition opportunities. Please let me know if you or your child is interested!
BJJ Tour California - Jan 31, 2026 - Fremont
JJWL Golden State XV - Jan 31, 2026 - Stockton
Tap Cancer Out San Jose BJJ Open - Mar 8, 2026 - San Jose
Regarding growth of the academy... you can help! Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts by leaving a review on google business!
Promotional Package and Price Increase
In January we will be offering a 6-month prepaid package available to new and existing students! Details to follow.
There will also be a modest price increase for all new students starting in 2026. Existing students will keep their current 2025 prices for month-to-month and prepaid packages as long as they remain enrolled.
If you or somebody you know is on the fence about joining, now is the time to lock in the lowest rates for BJJ instruction in the East Bay!
Holiday Schedule
There will be a few closures around the upcoming winter holidays.
The academy will be closed Wednesday 12/24 - Friday 12/26, and again a week later on Wednesday 12/31 - Friday 1/2.
These closures will give us a chance to connect with family, reset physically and mentally, and come back refreshed for a strong start in 2026!
Congratulations Audrey!
After a year of serious training and competition, Audrey Tiumalu has earned the #1 spot in the Jiu Jitsu World League rankings for Northern California in both the gi and no-gi. Congratulations Audrey!
December Curriculum
We will finish the year with a mix of sound defensive techniques, offense from the top and bottom guard positions, and grappling on the feet in pants and a jacket 😉.
