Lock in the lowest rate for BJJ in the Bay Area when you pay in advance! If it's not in the budget this year, then start planning for next year with this strategy:
Personal Finance Tip - Budget Like a Black Belt
Open a “BJJ Sale” savings account.
List all annual expenses (e.g., gym membership, insurance) in a spreadsheet and total them.
Divide the total by 12 to get a monthly budgeting goal.
Transfer this amount to your "BJJ Sale" account each month.
When the sale hits next year (or any other budgeted annual expense), pay from this account to lock in the discount without stressing your bank account.
Just like drilling techniques, consistent small steps lead to big wins.
Labor Day -- Classes Cancelled
Regular classes will be cancelled on Labor Day, Monday September 1st.
If anybody is interested in gathering for open mat then please let me know and I will make sure the Academy is available.
September Curriculum
This month we will spend an entire week on top control, transitions, and immobilizations (week 4). The ability to control another person with selective movement and pressure is a crucial skill in BJJ, self defense, and martial arts. It allows you to protect yourself without injuring your attacker/opponent/partner. Plus, it gives our partners the opportunity to learn how to escape from bad situations!
