November 2025 Newsletter

Congratulations Blake!

Russell Jensen posing with Blake Bennett after his first BJJ tournament on October 25th, 2025

With his white belt barely broken in, Blake Bennett was eager to test himself in competition at the South Bay Fall Invitational hosted by our friends at Solidarity Jiu Jitsu in San Jose.

He was in a bracket with boys who were older and/or more seasoned, but he fought hard and walked away with valuable competition experience. He even pulled out a win in his first match: an impressive accomplishment given the circumstances!

We're very proud of his courage and hard work in preparation for the tournament.

Upcoming Competition Opportunity

If you or your child is ready for a challenge, then speak to me about registering for the Jiu Jitsu World League Norcal Finals in Stockton on November 22nd.

The skills we learn in competition transcend arm bars and mount escapes. Tools like managing nerves, how to win, and how to learn from mistakes transfer to all areas of life.

November Curriculum

Defense! The ability to free yourself from bad positions is vital for success in both competition and self defense situations. We'll work on disentangling from bad spots in the first two weeks, and then we'll go back on offense to review butterfly guard in week 3.
